Breast Cancer Awareness Month
1 in 7 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. But, regular checking and early detection is live-saving. So, let’s get checking!
There’s no right or wrong way to check your breasts, the important thing is getting to know what's normal for you and building this practice into your weekly or monthly ritual.
How to check your breasts
Follow our helpful tips to get more confident checking yourself this month and every month.
1. Understand what’s normal for you
Everyone’s breasts are different, and our breasts can change in size and shape throughout our cycle. So, it’s important for you to get to know what normal is for you, that way you can detect any sudden changes.
2. Checking regularly
Incorporate checking your breasts into your morning routine, you can check in the shower, laid in bed or in front of the mirror. By checking on a regular basis you will also build confidence in knowing what is normal for you.
3. Look and feel
There are many signs and symptoms of breast cancer, but not all of them can be felt. That’s why it is key that you look and feel your breasts when checking.
4. If in doubt, please consult your GP
If you have any further questions or are unsure about something, always consult your GP or healthcare provider. Don’t put it off, book that appointment
